What happens when a group of artists with a combined net worth of 2.5 billion dollars decide to join forces and take over the music industry? Tidal.

Jay Z and other music artists recently acquired and relaunched the music service, Tidal, which is known for their premier audio quality with lossless sound. And more importantly, since it is an artist owned company, this means exclusive content and collaboration. Kanye West tweeted about the service, "Together, we can turn the tide and make music history.." Artists such as Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye Rihanna, Madonna, Draft Punk, Alicia Keys, and more had a press event yesterday to celebrate the relaunch of the company.

I was talking to a few people about Tidal, and their reason for wanting to try the service were not for the quality of the sound, the ease of use, or the appeal of the GUI (graphic user interface), but because Jay Z and Kanye were involved in the ownership. Or, they are in love with Beyonce so since she owns it then I am making my purchase. So that makes me question, is this service appealing because of its functionality or because of the desire to be even more connected to their favorites artists?
Tidal could soon be viewed as a serious competitor in the music streaming service industry or it could just be another company with a brand that consumers fall in love with because it is partly owned by the top selling artists from the last 2 decades which will bring them more revenue and add to their massive net worth.
I wonder how many consumers are excited to try Tidal. If so or if no, tell me why in the comments below.
Will Tidal be a hit with consumers? Will Jay Z soon have a stake in every media space possible? Will artists start pulling their music from rivals such as Spotify and work directly with Tidal and truly become #TidalforALL ? Find out next time on allthatiskim.
