Yes ladies and gents, tech is even present at The Met.
The Met Gala, also known as The Party of the Year, is annual fundraiser gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. The gala also serves as a grand opening which allows guests to have the first look at the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit.
Guest are encouraged to dress in theme, which allows the gala to become a premier fashion event as well. This year’s theme was China: Through The Looking Glass. Of course this event is invite only, and invites are chosen by Anna Wintour, EIC of American Vogue.
Fun Facts: She has chosen the guest list for this event since 1995, and Marissa Mayer (CEO of Yahoo) served as one of this year’s co-chairs.
From digital media platforms such as Mashable, Refinery 29 to publications such as Vogue and NY Mag’s The Cut, they all had correspondents that used technology with social media tools such as Snapchat, Periscope, and Twitter, to interact with their followers and to supply an up close and personal experience to their audiences.
Instead of waiting for photos to come out on the internet the day after the event, we are now able to view live and real time footage on our devices.
The rise of social media and advancement of technology has allowed us to have a first look at the red carpet, celebrity guests, fashion, and so much more. Below I have listed my 3 favorite snapchat accounts (just in case you want a quick recap of the event before it is gone) and (for my fellow fashion lovers) my fave looks from the night.
